Our Case is Different, Nigeria’s Case is Different by Ayoola Ogunlowo

Sharing anyone’s post or opinion on our BLOG doesn’t in any way IMPLY that the Person is a member of the YouthFul and UseFul Democratic Alliance (A Political Party). It doesn't automatically IMPLY that the PERSON also endorses the PARTY until THE PERSON decides to do so PUBLICLY. We deem their OPINION and WRITE-UP worth sharing.

Our Case is Different, Nigeria’s Case is Different

We need to do things differently in order to achieve results and make progress. No governance template in world is good enough to solve our problems in Nigeria. We must design our own template.

We are peculiar people. Ethnicity and religious differences have successfully distracted us from growth. Lack of focus, vision and good leadership have hampered our development.

We gallantly sit on enormous natural and mineral resources but have nothing to show for it. Give this land called Nigeria to the Chinese, Japanese, Israelis’ or Germans and see the transformation in a short period of time. We are just different set of human beings.

Since we lack the fear of God and our judiciary system is not strong enough, we need to do things differently. Insanity is doing the same thing continuously and expecting different results.

We need to introduce Amadioha (god of thunder) during swearing in ceremonies of public office holders. At least three gods that can deliver instant judgement to leaders who default. The holy books are being taken for granted. Let’s see people who truly want the progress of the nation get into position of power. Let’s see allocated funds for projects rightly used. Just 4 years experiment. Our case is different, we need different approach.

We need to contract the leadership of this nation to expatriates. YES!!! We are still learners in leadership and resources management. This is beyond budgets drafting and projects. This is about the people handling and monitoring the allocations and the projects. We need experts from around the world to manage key leadership positions. Experts who get paid to deliver a vision within a period of time. Japan is a nation with limited resources, Dubai is a desert…Something is wrong with us in Nigeria.

We have struggled with what we are not good at in decades. Since we can’t learn from developed nations probably because of the distance and our blind leaders who can’t see, we have to bring them in to help us change things. With our ethnic and religious bias, we are going nowhere.

Call it modern day slavery, our case is different and we must do things differently.
